Catalytic Carbon Systems in Putney, KY

Catalytic Carbon Systems in Putney, KY

Catalytic carbon is activated carbon that has been treated to increase its surface reactivity. In plain terms, it breaks down chloramine much faster than standard carbon. For homes in Putney, KY served by a chloramine utility, it is often the media that makes whole house water filtration work properly.

Putney, KY Whole House Water Filtration installs catalytic carbon in upflow or backwashing tanks sized to your peak flow. Upflow tanks need no drain and no power, which makes them easy to fit in a garage or closet. Backwashing tanks use a control valve to flush the bed on a schedule, which helps when the water carries fine sediment.

Catalytic carbon also helps with the rotten egg smell of hydrogen sulfide at low levels. If the odor is strong or only shows up on the hot side, the cause may be the anode rod in your water heater instead, and we will check that before selling you a tank.

Typical life for a properly sized catalytic carbon bed is several years, depending on chloramine level and water use. We give you a realistic replacement range, not a sales number.
